Steinberg Studio Opens

studio-webshots-03At the very end of November 2011 a lease was agreed to enable us to take over the commercial unit at 137 Vanbrugh Hill that had been previously used as a cosmetic surgery. After 6 weeks of intensive renovation, removing partition walls, laying a new floor and installing a new kitchenette and WC we were ready to move the piano into its new home.

For the first part of 2012 we used the studio exclusively for rehearsing and teaching, gradually furnishing the space and tweaking the acoustics to make comfortable for holding community events and small performances.

As an experiment we decided in invite our immediate neighbours in the Plaza building to a private performance on 2 March which proved such a succes it formed the basis of our now regular studio concerts. While still in its infancy, we hope to create a thriving space where Greenwich residents can experience chamber music of the highest quality, children and adults can learn (or re-learn) the piano and violin and professional musicians can find a totally private space to rehearse in comfort.
